The Well School is, undeniably, a special place. From our longstanding traditions like Coffee Houses and the Winter Gift Exchange, to newer additions like Wee Wanders After School Club and Travel Soccer; from our delicious lunches to our dedication to time outdoors and experiential learning; from our experienced and dedicated faculty to our time on stage and immersed in the arts: The Well School offers an education that is unlike any other.

At the core of The Well School is our commitment to community, to a sense of belonging, of sharing, and of support. We have chosen to build a school community where we can rely on each other, where healthy interpersonal relationships are built and cherished, and where every child knows that they can count on the adults here for comfort, safety, and a true sense of respect and joy.

Families choose The Well for their children for many reasons, but time and again we hear how important it is to our families to know that their children are part of a community of adults and peers who will challenge them and support them equally. This environment, championing both growth and comfort, is one of the reasons the Engel family chose The Well School for their children…

When thinking about what The Well School has meant for our family, the first thing that comes to our minds every time is: Kindness, Respect, & Cooperation.  These values held by the school are deceptively simple, but in holding to these core principles, the school has offered our children a rich social-emotional environment to learn and thrive. Most importantly for us, these values resonate with the values we hold in our own home, so it’s really a blessing to feel that there is a consistent holding of our children wherever they are. 

Both girls are thriving at The Well. Each has a keen sense of right and wrong, and they have often come home telling us stories of how they felt their teachers handled tricky situations with their peers in a clear, upstanding and gentle way. They feel they know what to expect, and feel safe. The Well School is a shining example of how kids thrive in an environment with simple, clear, consistent expectations.

This foundation at The Well is a treasure and allows our children to jump with both feet into the challenges the school gives them to grow. Music, outdoor, artistic, academic, and social risks are asked of them all day long, and we see them both high jump and take them. Their teachers offer thoughtful insight into our children at parent teacher conferences.  We know our girls are held, seen, and pushed to blossom.

All of this amazing work is done while offering our children two additional extraordinary gifts for a primary education: two hours a day outside and a commitment to keeping our kids young. In a world that keeps pushing our children indoors and online, we feel like The Well School is a haven allowing our girls to grow gently and free with fresh air.

The wholesome, dedicated, and welcoming community at The Well is hard to describe, but more and more we see a vision of all five of our kids wandering its beautiful campus waving to everyone. We treasure this school and are excited to continue to be a part of it. We hope you will join us in helping to keep the school thriving with a donation of any size this year.

Please consider extending your support for the students and faculty at The Well to include an unrestricted financial gift. While tuition revenue covers approximately 80% of our annual expenses, we rely on financial support from our community to close the gap. Last year, our community’s support allowed us to complete deferred building maintenance, update our theater lighting and audio, and offer salary increases to our faculty.

This year, our goal is to raise $75,000 for The Well School Fund, in order to continue to grow our programming, improve faculty benefits, increase our Financial Aid offerings, and support our community.
